The goal is to better understand linemen and help those in the trade be better prepared for career advancement. We believe the lineman role is underrated and under-appreciated today. However, linemen have always taken pride in their work and continue to strive to be first-rate in this trade. They remain heroes to the community in times of outages and remain dedicated to keeping the legacy of the pioneering linemen before them alive. That said, we want to change the perception of the profession!
The job of utility linemen is varied and complex. It takes five years to train a lineman to a journeyman level, and most in the industry acknowledge that it takes 10 years to become a well-rounded lineman. There is much to learn, it takes years to gain the skills to construct and maintain the full spectrum of the utility infrastructure. We want these efforts to be rewarded!
