PowerTechs · your SkillBridge roles, deconstructed
United Rentals
Two of your live SkillBridge postings, read against what your screen can and can’t verify.
This is your own posting text, nothing added. You recruit skilled-trade MOSs into technician roles — a clean match. But your Inside Sales track runs almost entirely on a layer no certificate covers.
Role 1 — the clean trade match
Service / AMP Tech. Maps directly to maintenance MOSs — the technical layer is real and certifiable.

The AMP Tech training program provides the participants with an on the job training (OJT) rotation. Beginning with Equipment Associate training to become familiar with the equipment and earning required safety and equipment operation certificates. Upon completion, participants progress into Service Technician training. In these modules each participant gains exposure to our inspection, basic maintenance procedures and demonstrate diagnostic/troubleshooting skills under the supervision of a senior level technician. Participants will learn our internal enterprise system (RentalMan) to perform equipment service status updates and other functions. The job rotation includes an opportunity job shadow with the Sr. Technicians, Service Manager, and a ride along with a Field Service Technician. This provides an opportunity to gain valuable trade skills and insights to higher level roles within the technician career path.
As a Service Tech Intern you’ll use your skills to perform maintenance, preventive maintenance and minor repairs of equipment in a safe and professional manner. Every day, you can improve and challenge yourself, and if you have the desire and ambition, you’ll have the potential to work towards higher level Tech roles in our Service Department.
Role 2 — where the match breaks
Inside Sales & Operations. Same recruiting funnel, but the work is relationships and leadership — nothing a maintenance MOS predicts.

The same funnel, two roles, one measurable and one not
Your technician track has a technical layer that matches military maintenance MOSs almost one-to-one, and certifies cleanly. That half is as solid as it gets.
Your Inside Sales & Operations track has almost no technical gate — an AA degree — and runs entirely on the durable layer: building customer relationships, selling, leading a branch. You recruit both from the same pool of transitioning service members, and the screen reads them the same way.
For the technician, the MOS match tells you most of what you need. For the sales and operations role, it tells you almost nothing — and that’s the role where a wrong host costs you a branch relationship.
For your technician roles the match does the work. For Inside Sales and Operations, the same screen tells you almost nothing about the relationships and leadership the job is entirely made of — and that’s the role where being wrong is most expensive.
That gap matters more under the 75% offer commitment SkillBridge providers carry: your sales and ops fellows are chosen on a layer the screen can’t see at all. That layer is what PowerTechs measures.
