The Manitowoc Company

One of your live SkillBridge postings, read against what your postings screen for.

This is your own posting text, nothing added. The CraneBridge role has two layers: the technical skill the program is built to teach, and the discipline and persistence that decide who becomes a technician worth keeping. The screen reads the first; the second it takes on faith.

The role

Shop / Crane Technician (CraneBridge). The program builds the technical skill; the durable layer is what makes it stick.

In collaboration with the U.S. Department of War (DoW), the Manitowoc DOW Skillbridge Program (CraneBridge) provides military service members who are within 180 days of separation from military service, with top tier training in becoming a Shop or Crane Technician at Manitowoc. The goal is to provide service members with opportunities to learn and train at Manitowoc’s facilities as they prepare the transition from the military to the civilian sector. This is an unpaid training program through the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program. Participants of the program will not receive compensation or benefits from Manitowoc and will not be considered employees of Manitowoc but rather will remain an employee of the DoW and will receive compensation and benefits through the DoW. To apply for our program, please complete the application and a recruiter will be in contact to discuss your areas of interest and placement opportunities if you are eligible for the program.

Two layers, and the invisible one decides who you keep

The role has a technical layer — the crane and shop skills your CraneBridge program is built to teach. Where it’s missing, you train it. That half works.

It also has a durable layer — the safety discipline heavy equipment demands, the persistence to finish the training, the problem-solving composure on complex machinery. Your program can teach the technical skill; it can’t install the discipline. And the screen — eligibility and minimum qualifications — can’t read it.

A transitioning service member usually arrives with exactly that discipline. It’s the strongest thing they bring, and the part your eligibility screen can’t see at the moment you’re deciding to invest a training slot.

Your program teaches the crane skill; your screen checks eligibility. Whether a candidate has the safety discipline and persistence to become a technician you keep is the part neither can read — and it’s what decides the outcome.

That gap matters more under the 75% offer commitment SkillBridge providers carry: you’re investing a full training program before you can read who’ll complete it. That second layer is what PowerTechs measures.
