PowerTechs · your SkillBridge roles, deconstructed
Juniper Communities
Two of your live SkillBridge postings, read against what your postings screen for.
This is your own posting text, nothing added. Both roles are leadership positions in a retirement community — running facilities, running dining. The work is almost entirely judgment, coordination, and care. The screen accepts “any” background.

Juniper Communities is seeking a Dining Director SkillBridge Intern to assist with leading and managing the operations of a hospitality retirement community’s dining services department. This is a leadership role that blends hospitality, food service management, and resident care.As a Dining Director Intern, you’ll gain valuable experience overseeing food service operations, supervising culinary staff, maintaining health and safety standards, and ensuring that meals meet the dietary needs of older adults. You will assist with menu planning, inventory control, vendor coordination, budgeting, and special event dining experiences. This internship is ideal for transitioning service members with backgrounds in logistics, food service management, galley operations, or leading teams in high-volume environments.
Two layers — and both these roles are almost entirely the durable one
Every role has a technical layer — the building systems, the food-safety standards. It’s learnable, and your screen can check for exposure to it.
But both these roles are defined, in your own words, as leadership — managing an operation, supervising staff, coordinating vendors, caring for residents. That’s the durable layer, and it’s not a nice-to-have here; it’s the entire job. The screen accepts “any” MOC and takes the leadership on faith.
A service member who led a team maps onto this better than any credential shows. But “any MOC” can’t distinguish the one who’ll run a warm, well-led community from the one who won’t — and that’s the whole difference in a role like this.
Both roles are leadership, in your own words — and the screen accepts “any” background and takes the leadership on faith. In a role that’s almost entirely judgment and care, that’s the part that decides everything.
That gap matters more under the 75% offer commitment SkillBridge providers carry: you’re hosting fellows into leadership roles on an open screen. That second layer is what PowerTechs measures.
